Biography

Read as 'Mancardi squared', Jean-Jacques and Christine form a close-knit duo who sculpt and paint with four hands. Their world pays tribute to those who shape, colour and animate our cities: the Workers, modern builders; the Writers, heirs of frescoes and prehistoric walls; and the street Musicians, bearers of grace and energy. Their practice blends the tradition of bronze — cast through the lost-wax process at the Barthélémy Art foundry — with the freedom of graffiti, applied on metal, wood or Plexiglas. Between fire and colour, matter and motion, Mancardi² brings ancestral craft and urban expression into dialogue in one same creative impulse.
